Hong Kong’s first experimental artist hostel/residence, with retail/dining/entertainment facilities embedded

A vibrant art district is an important destination for everyone with an interest in the arts, from performers to audiences. Providing space for artists in residence to connect with the local community, adds character to the destination and creates a unique opportunity for artists and their audience to meet and interact.

West Kowloon will test out Hong Kong’s first experimental artist hostel/residence, with retail/dining/entertainment facilities embedded. The residence is an ancillary facility to the planned arts venues at West Kowloon and will support local and visiting artists. It will serve as a showcase and incubator for artists, with workshops and public spaces for events and performances. To this end, it will be a place bringing arts and art lovers together to live, work and engage as a community.

The Artist Hostel/Residence will be located in the Artist Square at West Kowloon next to the Lyric Theatre Complex. Selected artists will be invited to stay at a discounted rate within the artist hostel/residence for defined periods and in return they will make their presence felt throughout the residence by their creations, performances, participation in art tours and workshops, as well as hosting salons.
